We’re powering up a green future for Alameda County.
Smarter, Cleaner & Greener
The future of Alameda County begins today. That’s why we’re always looking for the cleanest, most sustainable ways for our departments to get their work done.
Our green initiatives include an award-winning clean vehicle fleet, sustainable purchasing and climate resilience programs and cutting-edge, carbon-neutral energy sources for County buildings.
When it comes to keeping Alameda County green, we make it happen.
We are regional and national leaders in sustainability, climate action and climate resilience, creating partnerships and programs to ensure the health and future of our communities. We partner with departments across the County to reduce, recycle and plan for the future of our planet.
With one the country’s cleanest motor vehicle fleets, we’re working hard to give our employees greener ways to get around. We offer bike shares and free shuttles, too. Many of our shuttles are also available to the public.
We’re powering our way toward a carbon-neutral future with innovative alternatives to fossil fuels. Solar systems, cool roofing, high-efficiency HVAC, and building analytics are just a few of the ways we’re cutting the County’s carbon footprint.
The purpose of this plan, a requirement of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is to identify the natural hazards in our area, determine how they will impact our community, and develop strategies to lessen the effect of those hazards and create a more disaster resilient Alameda County.
