Employees of the Month
Rachel J., Real Estate Program Manager, was selected as an Employee of the Month for January 2021. She was nominated for outstanding customer service. Rachel was recognized for leading efforts to provide shelter space for the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency, supporting and coordinating with other County departments during the current COVID-19 pandemic; negotiating agreements, contracts, producing numerous Board Letters with recommendations and other working documents for County Real Estate operations; managing nearly 37 leases totaling almost three-quarters of a million square feet of County-occupied space and overseeing leases that total over $37 million annually; developing new procedures for the acquisition of hotel properties and establishing new ways of executing emergency agreements; and, ensuring that hotels can immediately house vulnerable populations, meet the State's timely requirements, and effectively utilize funds made available in the Counties.
Joaquin G., Electronic Systems Technician, was selected as an Employee of the Month for January 2021. He was nominated for excellent customer service, taking initiative, continuous improvement, teamwork, and volunteering to work on special projects. Joaquin was recognized for being responsible and dedicated to solving audio-visual system issues that persisted over the years at the Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting chamber; working diligently with the Information and Technology Department (ITD) team, BOS staff, and the audio-visual vendor to improve the system; and, going above and beyond to provide technical support during BOS meetings, keeping GSA management informed of any issues, and recommending solutions.
Floyd B., Lead Janitor, was selected as an Employee of the Month for January 2021. He was nominated for initiative, teamwork, outstanding customer service, and continuous improvement. Floyd was recognized for taking on the challenge of training as a back-up supervisor to support and lead the team; showing growth and development through continuous training to gain confidence in the use of technology; conquering various computer systems to keep daily staff attendance, scan documents, and sending emails to inform building occupants of multiple project schedules; and, being incredible supportive and willing to share a wealth of knowledge with the janitorial team.
